Kathie Sutherland is an art consultant, curator, researcher and writer. She has lectured extensively on the history of art in England and in Australia.
After a long career in art auctions in Australia where she held senior executive positions with both Sotheby's and Christie's, she returned to study. She completed a Master of Arts (Curatorship) at Melbourne University writing her thesis on the early works of Brett Whiteley. Her first volume on this subject, Brett Whiteley: A Sensual Line: 1957-1967, published by Macmillan in 2010, was launched to much acclaim at both the National Gallery of Victoria and the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
Today The Whiteley Project is well advanced as Kathie works towards the publication of the first complete catalogue raisonné on the life's work of this important artist.
